11th Grade Year
  • Juniors may elect to take the PSAT again in October of the junior year, this time as the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholars Program. They receive their results in January.
  • Juniors begin to take the SAT and the ACT in the winter and spring. Students should take both tests and see how well they perform. A student should not take either test more than three times.
  • College advisors meet with juniors at the student/family college planning meetings in the spring of the junior year.  Interests and aspirations are discussed and families leave these meetings with an understanding of how to narrow down colleges based upon the academic profile of the student in comparison to the academic profile of the school.
  • Juniors are encouraged to visit colleges throughout their junior year as well as college fairs.
  • College Admissions Representatives will visit MHS throughout the fall.  Juniors are permitted to sign up and attend those during their lunch block only.  Sign-ups occur through SCOIR.
