The ninth grade is a time of adjustment to high school academics and life. All courses taken for high school credit become visible to post secondary entities requiring a transcript for admission and/or entry. Students should consider whether the rigor of their curriculum in their classes supports their college goals. Your cohort counselor can be helpful to students and parents in making these course selections and other academic decisions.
Beyond academics, ninth grade is a time of exploration and personal discovery. Students should identify extracurricular activities to commit to both on and off-campus that help develop leadership qualities and demonstrate service to others.
In the spring semester of the freshman year, the college advising team will host three mini-college fairs where you will have an opportunity to explore colleges that differ on several criteria, such as size and environment.
In the ninth grade students should set up their personal accounts on SCOIR - college search network designed to help you find your best-fit college.
Every student at MHS can take advantage of free standardized test preparation via Applerouth.
