Marietta High School recommends students take both the SAT & ACT. Colleges will accept best scores from either test.
Test Scores (SAT & ACT)
Colleges/Universities require scores be sent directly from testing agencies. Students can choose up to four colleges/universities that the scores will automatically be sent to when signing up for the SAT or ACT. If students wait until after receiving their scores, it may cost up to $12 per official score report. For more information, visit:

Free Test Prep for SAT & ACT
Applerouth Online is a state of the art immersive and interactive platform for mastering SAT and ACT content and strategy. Marietta City Schools and Applerouth have designed a comprehensive, multi-year program to prepare students for the SAT and ACT. Appleouth has created an online account for each MCS student in grades 8-12 along with a curriculum customized for the student's grade. Through their Applerouth portals, students will be able to access online lessons; watch animated videos about topics relevant to the standardized tests; register for full-length, in-person practice tests at their schools; and view their score reports sot hey can track their progress over time.
Additional SAT/ACT Prep
SAT & ACT Fee Waivers
- Students must be eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch & bring proof of eligibility to their school counselor or college adviser. Sign up for Free or Reduced Lunch. For questions about eligibility or to obtain your Lunch Verification Status, please email Adrian Wright.
- Students are given a total of 2 fee waivers for both the SAT & ACT (can be used over 2 years).
- If students lose or do not use fee waivers, they cannot receive more.
- After using SAT fee waiver & receiving score report, students can download four college application fee waivers directly from SAT website.
Accuplacer
Technical colleges and some 2-year colleges use the Accuplacer Test for admission and for Dual Enrollment.
- Marietta High School will offer students who are interested in participating in Dual Enrollment the opportunity to take the Accuplacer on Monday, October 7, 2019; Tuesday, February 11, 2020; and Wednesday, March 11, 2020.
- Students who need the Accuplacer for college purposes will need to take the Accuplacer at the college of their choice (e.g., Chatt Tech, GA Highlands, GA Perimeter, etc.)
ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
Students interested in joining the military must take the ASVAB. The ASVAB is also used as a free interest inventory for students not wanting to join the military.

- Fall ASVAB is October 16, 2019 (last date to register is October 11)
- Spring ASVAB is March 17, 2020 (last date to register is March 11, 2020)
- You must be logged into your MCS Google account to register for ASVAB
